José A. Gómez-Ibáñez, professor of public policy and urban planning at Harvard University, is coauthor of Going Private: The International Experience with Transport Privatization (Brookings, 1994). William B. Tye is a principal at the Brattle Group. Clifford Winston is a senior fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution. Scholarly, yet accessible.

This book is a little pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The keys are fabulous, the photography excellent, and by limiting itself to boletes, this book covers most of what you will find, at least in North America. I have been collecting, identifying, and eating wild mushrooms for years, and this is one of the best reference books of the many I've used.

Best Reference Guide

This is the best reference book I have on Boletes. Because it just covers boletes it is a fairly comprehensive guide, and the book is so easy to use. The keys make it easy to identify just about any Bolete. The descriptions are in alphabetical order as are the pictures so it is easy to flip through to find what you want. The pictures are incredible! The price was well worth it for me.

Best Bolete Book Ever

This is the best Bolete book ever published, that I have seen. Each fall I identify the various species of boletes that our Pacific Northwest mycological club gathers for our annual show. The club owns one of these books and I have used it for identification and teaching purposes. When I saw the price drop online I decided to buy my own. I believe others who have written more negative reviews just have not gotten far enough into the "mushroom world" to appreciate this fine text. For those I would say "stay to the easier picture books until you have more of a command of the terminology. There are reasons why the book is arranged the way it is (pictures not next to the text)." Come back to this text when you have got the hang of using dichotomous keys and understand the terminology. I bet that then you will appreciate this book a whole lot more.

Credit undergirds daily life more than ever—it has become one of the defining aspects of American life, and the ramifications are becoming clearer by the day. The already considerable damage from a depressed housing market has been exacerbated by the subprime lender implosion, sending shock waves through the financial sector, international economies, and government at all levels. Most low- or moderate-income people borrow, but that should not be construed as uniformly poor judgment or lack of disciplines—Americans are not borrowing merely to keep up with the Joneses, but too often simply to stay afloat.

In Borrowing to Live, the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University brings together a group of experts drawn from the best of academia, research, and public services. Together with editors Nicolas Retsinas and Eric Belsky, they dissect the worrisome current state of consumer and mortgage credit in the United States and help point the way out of the current struggles.

Nicolas P. Retsinas is director of Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies and a member of the faculty of the Graduate School of Design, the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Harvard Business School.

Eric S. Belsky is executive director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies and a member of the faculty of the Graduate School of Design. Together they have edited three previous Brookings/JCHS books: Low-Income Homeownership (2002), Building Assets, Building Credit (2005), and Revisiting Rental Housing (2008).
